Whiteley 8" British Gold Sidebents

Length: 8”

These lovely rose-gold plated premium fabric shears are sidebents, an offset design which allows the cutting blade to run flat on a surface to anchor a smoother cut. Thomas Wilkinson developed the modern style of sidebents used in tailoring and dressmaking. Whiteley took that firm over in 1875 and still uses the name for these and other premium scissors.

  • Descended from the original sidebent design
  • Hot forged and tempered steel
  • Rose gold plating
  • Superior hardening to ensure sharpness

  • Made in Sheffield using a traditional hot-forge technique, these grand scissors would be lovely for anything from ceremonies and ribbon-cutting to everyday use. They are perfect for a range of fabrics from cotton to jersey and linen.

The scissors are very nice but I find some way they are small for my hand. Not entirely comfortable using them but I will… I don’t think my hand is unusually large
