For display or use, this is one of the largest pairs of scissors produced by historic Italian maker Fennek. The stunning 12" Grandi Grandi Forbici have been in continuous production since the company was founded in 1895. A very small number of these tailor's shears are made each year due to the complexity of their assembly and adjustment; they can only be crafted by the most skilled Regolatore.
As with all of Fennek's scissors, these are made without springs in the hinge. This will mean the scissors last longer (a lifetime... or more!) but may cause the movement to be stiff initially, requiring breaking in. With a large bolt that makes for ease of display or professional use, these large scissors require good hand strength to operate. They are the perfect blend of form and function: both beautiful to look at and a delight to use.

One of the oldest Premanese scissor-makers, Italian firm Fennek was founded in 1895. Their motto is “Quality products that combine tradition and modernity”. Currently run by fourth-generation family, the company continues to deliver the unwavering, uncompromising attention to detail that has made them famous in the region. Fennek has modernised some aspects of their production, but assembly and finishing is all done by hand, with a firm commitment to heritage practices that ensure the highest quality.

Unless you’re a professional tailor or seamstress, you’ve never felt the sensation of fabric being cut as cleanly and easily as these shears provide. Spent an hour just cutting scraps for the “shear” joy. Recommended.
3-star review does not reflect the quality of the scissors themselves - they meet the expectations raised by the ads and website description. My complaint refers to the packaging. The scissors arrived jammed into an ill-fitting, too-small box and sleeve, resulting in a visibly bulging lump. The sleeve was so tight it could not be slid from the box as intended, but had to be ripped and peeled off. Once opened the scissors were wrapped in two sheets of stained, rough packaging paper which had torn over the scissor bolts. All-in-all the first impressions were very disappointing, and ruined the hoped-for first impressions of this Christmas gift.
Dear KH, first: we are so sorry that our packaging of these monumental scissors did not meet your expectations. Our goal is always to surprise and delight, and your experience does not meet our standards. Second: real talk, we've struggled with how to prepare the Grandi Grandi Forbici for shipment in such a way that the packaging is beautiful, but the scissors also arrive safely and are protected (e-commerce parcels need to be incredibly durable). It's clear we missed the mark here. We'll take your feedback to heart and experiment with some more options - thank you for your continued support.
PS: Also wanted to clarify that the wrapping paper is absolutely not 'dirty' (ew), but rather showed signs of the oil that the scissors are treated with to ensure smooth operation and protection from oxidization.
These were a gift to a dear friend who loves them. Thanks for shipping them to Australia.
The workmanship is outstanding
Really good scissors, not cheap by any means but they feel perfect in the hand and ought to last generations
