Founded in 1727, Friedrich Herder has been a revered scissor-maker for almost three hundred years, though the company was making swords for soldiers as far back as the Thirty Years War (1618-48). Herder is based in Solingen, known as the “City of Blades”; a historical centre for sword-making since the 11th century. The firm is the oldest surviving German scissor maker. Their products have a reputation amongst collectors and craftspeople for enduring quality and workmanship.
