Waldmin & Saam, known as WASA, was founded in 1907 by the great-grandfather of the current owners. The company takes its name from the first two letters of the founders' surnames, August Waldmin and Fritz Saam. Known particularly for the delicacy of their embroidery snips, each pair of WASA scissors requires dozens of individual steps, with painstaking attention to the handcrafted precision worthy of the Solingen, “City of Blades”, standard. Some of WASA’s beautiful designs, unchanged for more than a century, have been occasionally mistaken for antiques.
